Our students follow the National Curriculum and a broad range of subjects. This allows them to demonstrate their individual talents, whilst providing a sound basis for further study and for success in later life.

Information Communications Technology enriches learning in all subjects. Your child will use industry standard software on networked computers and will be encouraged to use ICT for homework.

Homework is set each day according to a homework timetable issued in September. We place great emphasis on homework. Completed regularly and carefully, homework will add the equivalent of a year’s education to your child’s time at The Warwick. We ask you to check that your child is completing homework and to sign the Record Book each week.

Years 7-9 (Key Stage 3)

Students study English, Mathematics, Science, French, German, Design Technology, Food Technology, History, Geography, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Religious Education and Information Communications Technology.

Years 10-11(Key Stage 4)

Our students study GCSE English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (double certificate), Technology,  and French or German. They choose a further 3 subjects from: French, German, History, Geography, Religious Education, Art, Music, Drama, Physical Education, Child Development, Business Studies and GNVQ Manufacturing. Students also follow courses in Physical Education and Careers and can take the short course GCSE in Information Technology and Religious Education, making a total of 11 GCSE's.

The School Day

Able Students

The School's outstanding facilities, setting structure and teacher commitment ensure that able students are fully challenged and can enjoy the stimulation of working together. For our very high ability students there is an extension set and a well-established programme of enrichment and extension activities in all subjects. This includes a visit to Oxford University, special projects and success in local and national competitions. Our talented performers appear in television and stage shows and our sports people participate in sports at national, county and district level. Details can be obtained from the School.

International Links

We have well-established international links. We are members of an e-mail project funded by the EU. Lower school pupils maintain an on-line newsletter linking with students in France, Germany and Netherlands. Upper school pupils have individual and group conversation classes with our French and German Assistants. We support learners in emerging nations through our charity work, book aid and through technology designs to improve their living conditions.

Religious Education - Assemblies and Acts of Worship

Religious Education is taught in accordance with Surrey’s Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education and Year 11 students are prepared for the short course GCSE in Religious Education (Thinking about God and Morality).

Assemblies are organised in Lower and Upper School groups and in Year Groups. They represent an important part of school life when staff and students meet together. The emphasis is on offering all students an opportunity to reflect on the fundamental values which underpin the School’s ethos and the beliefs and practices of people living in this country.

Parents who wish to withdraw their child from Religious Education and Assemblies should send a written request to the Head teacher

Sex Education

Sex education is provided primarily through Science, Food Technology, PE and Religious Education. The development of responsible attitudes and the importance of informed decision-making within a moral framework are an integral part of the School’s curriculum and ethos.

Whilst you have the right to withdraw your child from Sex Education (except that required as part of National Curriculum Science), we encourage all students to follow this important part of the School’s curriculum. Details of our programme can be obtained from the School.

Students with Special Educational Needs

All students are screened on entering the School and this helps to identify any special educational needs. Through a combination of differentiated teaching, in-class support and carefully planned withdrawal lessons, we aim to ensure that each student makes maximum progress. Students for whom English is an additional language may be supported by the Surrey English Language Support Service. Further details can be obtained from the School
